Information was passed out: Membership form, agenda, club ideas, and bylaws

Club ideas
Mountain Trails were discussed – Long Branch (Greenville), Tawakoni, Farmersville – along with advocating for a mountain trail/bmx arena at the Greenville Sports Complex (funding was and may still be available from Texas Parks and Wildlife)
Advocacy partners suggested: Bob Duell (state congressman) and Bill Rutherford (Presby Greenville)
Club name proposals
Greenville Area Social Pedalists (GASP) was well received
No URL available for GASP at this time
Budget
$150 to register with USA cycling, other organizations probably similar
Categories and lower renewal dues were well received – suggest was made to have a lifetime membership category
First time dues would include ‘package’ – RoadID, Livestrong bracelet, bottle, jersey, etc.
Custom jersey funding and ordering were discussed in general
Bylaws
Need for bylaws was addressed
General overview of club structure was given
Solicited volunteers for officer positions
Ryan Lange was interested (and qualified) in webmaster
Marc Atkinson was interested in training
Mary Grandfield was interested in a position
Jamie Grandfield was interested in a position
Not present but named as possibly interested in Treasurer were Dan Reinboldt, Jerry Grady, and Jerry Morris
Jay Baker vowed to support the officers
Future meetings
The next meeting was set for Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 6 p.m. at Crosspoint fellowship (to allow time to contact Ragbrai participants)
Saturday ride
Fast group leaves from PerSe at 7 a.m. for Cotton Patch race route preview. Avg speed 20 mph
Other group leaves from PerSe at 7:30 a.m. for a North Gvl ride. Avg speed 15 mph
Presentation by Marc Atkinson, former Junior Pro cyclist: Rallies, Races, and a Greenville Team
Explained the difference between rallies and races – rallies give a sense of accomplishment simply from finishing, while races are more about competition, but still fun whether you win or not.
Explained the USA cycling classification system for competitive racers, how points are gained, and how to change categories
